As a teacher with 5 years of experience, I am excited about the opportunity to apply my skills and experience at Averroes Academy. In addition to my Master of Physics, I also have experience of teaching Physics and mathematics to high school students, and Science and Mathematics to middle school students. What I learned through that experience was that to get kids to remember and understand the basic concepts. I had to make these concepts come to life by experiments and giving real life examples. I implemented various teaching strategies such as making acronyms to get students excited about the subject matter and make it memorable for them. I am passionate about teaching and helping students come to love the act of learning.

My name is Shamadrita Chowdhury, I have 3 years diligent experience with teaching English and other subjects such as Geography and History(Grade 9-12). I have completed my undergraduate from University of Toronto with double major in Geography and History. Currently I am doing my B.ED and in the process of getting OCT (Ontario Teaching Certificate). I have taught English to high school students, for example preparing grade 10 students for OSSLT Test (Literacy Test). One of the best ways to prepare students for essay questions is by purposefully demonstrating the difference “knowing” fact information and “applying” that knowledge into critical analysis writing format. Literacy is a mixed component of reading and writing, while reading is critically understanding and analyzing the text and later transforming that information in writing such as essays. I have a sense of responsibility to design an effective learning strategy where all students are learning within their capabilities and using their own strategies or pathways and finally meeting successful learning outcomes.
