Private High School
Averroes Academy High School follows the Ontario Ministry of Education’s curriculum and policy documents in all our procedures, plans, and administrative decisions. We have created an academically rich and technologically sound environment so that our students can earnthe credits required for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Additionally, we are committed to assisting them in gaining knowledge and skills necessary for living and working.
From our beginnings 2017, as a tutoring center, we’ve built a legacy of academic excellence. Our private high school prepares students for university success with credit courses designed to meet and exceed educational standards.
We have flexible course delivery methods such as in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous. Students can attend the classes during the scheduled classroom hours in person at Averroes Academy High School. If they wish, they can attend the same class synchronically (online) while the class is being conducted. If they want or if they have missed any classes, they can take those missing classes asynchronously by watching the videos and completing the class exercises, quizzes, class tests and submitting the assignments.
We acknowledge that the students have their own rights to study in a desired, fair ,and equitable learning context and to have easy access to some services that they need to complete their studies at our school. Considering the students’ expectations, we have arranged a rich, fair, and equitable learning environment where they can learn a variety of courses with the facilitation and guidance of teachers with expertise, knowledge, skills, and experience. Students also have the choice of attending the classes in any mode of delivery methods (in person, synchronous or asynchronous). As part of this principle, we have also arranged services to accommodate the students with special needs, whom we identify through reviewing their applications, observations, conversations, and diagnostic tests (that we conduct at the initial stage of the courses). We provide a variety of resources (i.e. amplification systems, teletypewriters, oral or sign language interpreters, special computer programs, and time extensions) to support students with special needs so that they can have equal access to education.
We also identify English as a second language learners (ESL) and those who use English as an additional language (EAL) as another group of students who need special accommodation to have access to fair and equitable services to accomplish their academic goals. We use learner-oriented instruction strategies such as scaffolding, visual cues, and strategic use of their first language.
